The Build

Art, carpentry, design, hard work, and passion fueled the building of our dream!

450 square feet of luxurious treehouse living! 3 treetop walk-out patios with comfortable seating and expansive forest views.  A custom hand-carved glass front door. Here you enter into your own fairytale. Between and around the trees, you will find comfortable accommodations surrounded by art.  A romantic fireplace and reclining chairs. A custom log queen-sized bed with extra layers of fluffy linens and heated Ugg pillows! All tucked into a fairy-filled forest and clearstory. A Narnia-inspired wardrobe leads you to the underwater mermaid-filled bathroom, so you can shower with the merfolk. Venture around the tree and soon you will find yourself the tub room, antique dressing table, dressing screen, and crystal chandelier.

The three-and-a-half acres of forested grounds overlook the river bottoms and fields. Perennial gardens, castle ruins, and a large stonewall are homes to wizards and mermaids. A waterfall spills from a hobbit hole during the wet weather to a creek below the treehouse. 10 forged iron dragons holding flaming torches greet you in the parking area above a large stone wall overlooking the creek.

Walk down the concrete pavers through the garden to the pavilion.

A post-beamed pavilion covers the hot tub, dry bar, and lounge seating. Next to it is a picnic table and charcoal grill. Cabinets hold picnic supplies, plastic glasses, silverware, and grilling necessities.

The treehouse is complete with a kitchenette, a full refrigerator with an ice maker, a convection toaster oven, a microwave, a single cooktop burner, and a Keurig hot beverage maker. Breakfast is available how and where you would like it, or not at all. It can be left in the refrigerator for you to prepare or it can be brought to you hot and ready to eat. The addition of a meat and cheese tray with fresh fruit can provide a light dinner to snack on throughout the evening. A single rose, fresh strawberries, and chocolates can add to the romance in our Love Affair package. Clues leading guests on a quest to find a keepsake crystal and create a potion for relaxation, rejuvenation, or love can be found in the treehouse with aromatherapy of lavender, rose, or citrus in our ultimate fairytale packages.

I collaborated with Astral Glass and Art Glass Unlimited to sandblast the glass carving I designed for the front door. Clip Contracting helped fabricated the wood trim.I gave it a final paint/ stain finish.

The Gardens and the Castle

A beautiful garden, a stone wall, and a castle greet guests upon arrival. Forged iron dragons hold flaming sconces line the parking area. You will be able to view a stone retaining wall and waterfall from the walkway above. During wet weather, water either flows at a trickle or rushes out the hobbit door to the creek below. Mermaids come here to meet with the fairies of the forest. The castle ruins top of the wall where wizards, fairies, and the Greenman keep a watchful eye. Seasonal flowers accent the perineal gardens that line the entrance. A large picnic table and Weber grill give guests an option for dining.

Respecting the Trees

Saving the trees for purpose of saving our earth is one of the seeds I hope to plant in everyone’s thoughts. Preserving the forest is essential to human survival. While clearing the driveway we had no choice but to remove some trees. I knew I needed to repurpose the wood. We were fortunate to know Doyle Lorenz. He set up his portable sawmill on-site and processed the wood into usable lumber. We also harvested a large dead walnut tree and it has became furniture for many households. Many hours of sawing, over a couple of months, yielded beautiful lumber. The wood can be seen in the furniture of the treehouse and Pavilion. The interior tree that is wrapped in fairy lights next to the bed is an American Elm. It was salvaged from the driveway, craned in through the clearstory, and the treehouse was built around it. The first photo is it in raw form. The fourth photo is the chiminey before finish…
